Objectives of the project

  • To raise awareness of the need to mainstream accessible toilets in households, institutions, and public spaces.

  • Persons with disabilities (PwD), pregnant women, and elderly people.

Estimated results

  • Relevant government agencies are sensitized to the need for mainstreaming accessible toilets.
  • CSOs and affected populations are made aware of the existing policies that empower them to mainstream accessible toilets.
  • The general public is educated and sensitized to ask for accessible toilets in all institutions, public spaces, and households.

Main activities

  • Conduct data collection to find out the ground reality of PwD and their struggle with accessing toilet facilities.
  • Conduct an awareness workshop with government agencies to highlight the need for mainstreaming accessible toilets.
  • Conduct advocacy and sensitization workshops with CSOs and relevant government partners working with the affected population to enable them to enforce the already existing policies.
  • Video to show how accessible toilet matters to everyone because everyone could become disabled during pregnancy, illness, or old age.
  • A video showing how PwD is deprived of many services due to infrastructure limitations.
  • Social media campaign to reach the masses on the importance of mainstreaming accessible toilets and how to do it.
