Title of the Project: Comprehensive Cattle Feed Improvement Project

Location of the project:  Wangdue (Phobjikha)

Name of the applicant:  Khemdro Kuenphen Milk Group (KKOD)

Duration of the project: 12 months

Total Cost of the project (in Nu/ EUR): Nu. 610,132.50

Objectives of the project:

To stabilize milk supply by doubling each KKOD member’s milk productivity in the winter by building the infrastructure and farmer’s capacity to make nutritive and cheap corn silage on their own farms

Target groups/ final beneficiaries:  41 members

Estimated results:

  • Every member internalizes the value of silage-making and adopts the practice.
  • Every member household has one brick-and-mortar silo with a capacity of 18 m3 (eighteen cubic meters) for preparing silage

Main activities:

  • Hold member sensitization meeting
  • Farmers plant corn (after harvesting potato)
  • Training on silage- making
  • Farmers make silag
  • Distribute metal roof sheets,cement,sand, pond
  • Solo construction
