Objectives of the project    To strengthen the office of Rainbow Bhutan for continuing the gains made thus far and get Rainbow Bhutan registered as legally recognized organization of LGBT people in Bhutan, by the end of the project period.

Target groups/ final beneficiaries    LGBT people, MoH, MoE, Media, CSO and other relevant organizations if required.

  • Estimated results The strengthening of the office if Rainbow Bhutan, enabled it, to work even more closely with relevant organizations within and outside the country in contributing to address the social, health, economic and legal issues faced by the LGBT community in Bhutan.
  • The Rainbow Bhutan possesses the necessary organizational policy documents for getting registration as CSO – also required almost mandatory by the partners, for partnership, and by the donors, for donor support
  • The LGBT support groups formed in four regions of the country are being able to continue the gain made thus far, by reaching out more information, sensitization and advocacy to the LGBT, general population and the relevant stakeholders
  • Registered Rainbow Bhutan as a legally recognized organizations of LGBT people in Bhutan

Main activities

  • Capacity building on media literacy
  • Observation of annual IDAHOT event
  • Tailored training for empowering members
  • Consultation meeting with potential stakeholders for future collaboration
  • Quarterly review meeting within the core working group to discuss ongoing activities
  • Formation of support group 4 dzongkhags
  • Carry outdoor based isolation reduction, confidence and closeness building and empowerment program among the community in 4 Dzongkhag
  • Organize a sensitization and partnership strengthening consultation meeting with the Ministry of Health and Education
  • Consultation meeting with the medias for further improving and changing social perception, attitude that prejudice, discriminates community and improve change in people’s service seeking behaviour
  • Consultation meeting for review of documents
  • Printing of organizational brochures and standee
  • Production of advocacy materials and stories of change (audio visual, reference paper and other advocacy materials)
  • Distribution of advocacy materials and stories of change
