Objective of the Project:

  • To improve weaving skills of women and youth for income generation and economic empowerment and poverty alleviation.
  • To reduce plastic waste in the community.
  • To use plastic waste as secondary resources to develop alternative products.

Target Groups/Final Beneficiaries:

  • 40 women and youth from Tashichoeling, Samtse District.

Expected results

  • 40 women/youth from Tashichoeling community of Samtse Dzongkhag trained on waste management and their weaving skills using plastic waste to develop alternative product improved.
  • Community awareness on re-purposing waste as secondary resources, such as PET bottles for hollow fill and plastic waste for storage baskets and furniture, increased.

Main activities

  • A 21-day training program on weaving bags/baskets out of waste plastic.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of training.
